BJP’s executive state working committee meeting is going on in Uttarakhand. In this meeting, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given a big statement. CM Dhami said that UCC will be implemented in Uttarakhand before 9 November State Foundation Day. He said that Uttarakhand will become the first state in the country to implement UCC.
In the one-day meeting of the BJP State Working Committee, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that all the formalities of the draft of the Uniform Civil Code have been completed. It has also been approved by the President. After this, it will now be implemented in the state on 9 November 2024. Uttarakhand BJP Chief Spokesperson Suresh Joshi, who was present in the working committee meeting, said that this statement of the Chief Minister is a stamp on the vision document of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party had envisaged one country, one flag and one constitution in its Sankalp Patra. Uniform Civil Code is a step taken in that direction. BJP Chief Spokesperson Suresh Joshi said that on 9 November 2024, the state of Uttarakhand will become the first state in the country where the Uniform Civil Code will be fully implemented. Work has been done on all the technical aspects regarding this for a long time.
Challenge to UCC in Supreme Court
While on one hand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced to implement Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand from November 9, on the other hand, preparations have also been made to challenge the Uniform Civil Court in the court. All India Muslim Personal Law is going to challenge the Uniform Civil Code to be implemented in Uttarakhand in the court. According to the information released by the Muslim organization on Sunday, the All India Muslim Personal Law will challenge the Uniform Civil Court passed in Uttarakhand in the Supreme Court.
Regarding the challenges to be faced in the court regarding the Uniform Civil Code, BJP spokesperson Suresh Joshi said that it is the constitutional right of any person to go to the Supreme Court regarding any rule or law. He said that the Uniform Civil Code Committee has prepared its draft keeping in mind all the technical and legal aspects. He does not think that it can be weakened by any kind of challenges.
