Uttarakhand: On Harela festival, CM Dhami planted trees in the name of martyrs, set a target of one crore

On the occasion of Harela festival, a tree plantation program is being organized across the state. In this sequence, the Forest Department organized a ‘Plantation in the name of martyrs’ program. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, who attended this program, planted saplings and appealed to the people of the state to bring greenery to the state by planting trees at their homes or on vacant land. This will not only conserve the environment, but will also bring prosperity and happiness. The CM said that five saplings have been planted in the memory of the five brave martyrs of Uttarakhand.
During the program, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while wishing Harela festival, said that Harela works to connect us with nature along with bringing happiness and prosperity and social harmony in our lives. Harela festival makes people aware of their responsibilities and duties towards environmental protection. So that in some way we have to move forward by building a relationship with nature. He also said that in Sanatan culture, since ancient times, there has been a tradition of worshiping and protecting nature as mother. According to religious texts, the earth is made up of five elements, according to scientific basis, all these five elements are related to nature.
CM Dhami said that earlier the situation in Dehradun was such that if there was a slight increase in temperature, it would rain during that time, but the current situation is that the temperature of Dehradun is reaching 44 degrees 45 degrees. This is a matter of concern for everyone, in such a situation, it is necessary for the conservation, coordination and balance of nature that all people plant trees. In the state of Uttarakhand, since ancient times, there has been a commitment to its love and dedication towards nature through its traditions. Due to which Uttarakhand is called Devbhoomi and the state of nature. The pure environment of Uttarakhand is the special identity of the state.
The Chief Minister said that the state of Uttarakhand, situated in the lap of Ganga and Yamuna, is blessed by nature. But in the present time, many questions have arisen in front of the people, including increasing population and climate change. In such a situation, it becomes the duty of everyone to unite and contribute to the conservation of nature. In such a situation, on the occasion of Harela festival, everyone needs to take a pledge that they will preserve their natural heritage. The Uttarakhand government has kept the theme of celebrating Harela festival as “Guarding the environment, greenery in every home, bring prosperity and happiness”.
The state government has set a target of planting trees on a large scale across the state on the occasion of Harela festival. Under which 50 lakh saplings will be planted across the state on the occasion of Harela festival. For this, the Forest Department has also distributed two fruit trees to most of the families. The CM has asked all the schools, colleges, public representatives, bodies, government and private institutions of the state to plant as many trees as possible on the occasion of Harela festival. A lot of work has also been done by the central government in the last 10 years regarding environmental conservation. Along with this, many schemes have also been started.
