Uttarakhand: High Power Committee has given permission for widening of Kedarnath and Yamunotri Dham roads, road width will increase by 7 meters

The number of devotees coming to Uttarakhand Chardham Yatra is increasing year by year. The current situation is that due to the arrival of excessive devotees, there is a situation of jam on the roads leading to the Dhams. Especially on the Kedarnath Dham route from Agastyamuni to Fata and on the Yamunotri Dham route from Paligad to Janakichatti, there is a lot of jam, because this road is single lane. But now the way to Kedarnath and Yamunotri Dham will become easier. Actually, the High Power Committee of the Supreme Court has given permission to increase the width of these routes.

After getting the permission of the High Power Committee, now the width of these roads of Kedarnath Dham and Yamunotri Dham can be increased. Due to which the traffic will be more smooth. In view of the ever increasing number of devotees and their faith in the state, the Chardham Yatra route has been improved a lot in the last few years. But the road from Agastyamuni to Fata Kund bypass of Kedarnath Dham route i.e. about 13 km is single lane. Similarly, the road from Paligad to Janaki Chatti of Yamunotri Dham Marg, i.e. about 23 km, is also single lane. Due to which traffic is often affected due to jams.

But now by increasing the width of the roads of these two Dhams, traffic will not only be smooth, but the situation of jam will also end. Cutting of mountains for road widening was banned about five years ago. Due to which the matter of widening these roads of Kedarnath Dham and Yamunotri Dham was stuck. But now the High Power Committee of the Supreme Court has given permission to increase the width of the road. The width of both these roads can be increased to about 7 meters. According to NH Chief Engineer Dayanand, permission has been received from the High Power Committee for the road. In such a situation, now the process of increasing the width of the road will be started.
