12 coaches of Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed, 1 passenger died

A major rail accident has happened in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh. Here about 12 coaches of Chandigarh-Dibrugarh express train derailed. So far 1 passenger has been reported dead, while more than 20 people are injured. Actually this train (15904) was going from Chandigarh to Dibrugarh in Assam. There are about 4 AC coaches among the 12 coaches that derailed.
The incident took place at Pikora located between Gonda and Jhilahi. Relief and rescue operations are currently underway. A 40-member medical team along with 15 ambulances is present at the spot.
Routes of many trains diverted
Northeast Railway CPRO Pankaj Singh said that many trains have been diverted on this route and the route of some has also been changed.
According to the information available at the moment, the routes of Katihar-Amritsar Express and Guwahati-Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Katra Express have been diverted.
CM Yogi took cognizance
CM Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the accident. He has given instructions to speed up the relief and rescue work. The Chief Minister has instructed the officials to immediately take the injured to the hospital and provide them with necessary treatment. He has also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has also taken cognizance of the accident. At present, the officials of Assam administration are also keeping an eye on the situation.
