Illegal factory making MD drugs busted in Surat, two arrested

Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) team exposed an illegal factory making mephedrone (MD drugs) in Kareli village of Palsana tehsil of Surat district. Two people were arrested in this case. Another accused has also been detained. 35 kg of MD drugs worth Rs 51 crore have been recovered from the factory.

ATS Deputy Superintendent S L Chaudhary said that there was concrete information about illegal drug manufacturing in a shed in Darshan Industrial Estate located in Kareli village of Surat. On this basis, a team was formed and a raid was conducted on the spot. Equipment for making MD drugs and 31 kg 409 grams of liquid mephedrone were recovered from two sheds here. Apart from this, four kg of mephedrone was recovered in hard form. Its price is Rs 51 crore. Two accused were arrested during the raid. These include Sunil Yadav (28), a resident of Vapi and Vijay Gajera (38), a resident of Varachha Yogi Chowk, Surat. Another accused named Haresh Korat has also been taken into custody from Junagadh.

The shed was on rent for Rs 20,000 per month

Initial investigation revealed that the accused had rented the shed in which they were illegally preparing MD drugs for Rs 20,000 per month. The accused had told the owner of the shed that they were doing chemical related work.

Prepared drugs by watching online videos

Initial investigation revealed that Vijay, Haresh and Sunil were running this illegal factory together. This illegal factory was running for about one and a half months. Gajera is an electrical engineer, while Yadav works in chemical trading. Sunil had learned to prepare MD drugs by watching online (YouTube) videos.

Four kilograms of drugs sold in Mumbai

Out of the MD drugs prepared here, the accused sold four kilograms of drugs to Mumbai resident Salim Syed and his associates. Salim and his associates will also be arrested in this case.
