CM Dhami launched the GEP index, Uttarakhand became the first state in the world to do so

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday launched the Uttarakhand Gross Environmental Product (GEP) Index. During this, CM Dhami said that Uttarakhand has become the first state to do so not only in the country but in the whole world. Which has started the Gross Environmental Product Index.

Chief Minister Dhami said that along with development, we are moving forward in the conservation of the environment. This index is a measure of economic development in which forest, land will contribute. Its assessment will establish better harmony between ecology and economy. Today is a historic day for the whole world. The Gross Environmental Product Index will assess ecosystem growth. Now along with GDP, we will also be able to release the Gross Environmental Product Index.
Awareness towards environment will increase: CM
CM Dhami said that this index will also increase awareness towards the environment. Our contribution to environmental conservation can be assessed. This index will also help in making policy in future. 71 percent of the state’s land area is covered with forest area. It is our responsibility to conserve and promote it. CM Dhami said that many works are being done to conserve rainwater. Development plans and industrial activities are spreading simultaneously in the state.
