The highway has been blocked due to heavy debris and huge boulders near Bishanpur Sainj on the Gangotri National Highway in Uttarkashi. On information, the BRO team is working to open the route. The police team has also reached the spot. At the same time, the tunnel was blocked around 8.30 am on Sunday morning due to debris at the end of the Patalganga tunnel under Joshimath area on the Badrinath National Highway. Which has been opened at around 11 am.
Weather scientists advised to be cautious
According to the forecast issued by the Director of Meteorological Department Vikram Singh, there is a possibility of heavy rain in some places in Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar today. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in view of the possible danger. While an orange alert has been issued for heavy rain in some places in Pauri, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Almora. Apart from this, a yellow alert has been issued for heavy rain in other districts of the state including the capital Dehradun. Along with this, caution has been advised in view of the possibility of landslides in the hilly areas.
