Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s statement has come out in the matter of verification in Haridwar. The CM said that many times it has come to the fore to open a shop by changing the name and identity. Such cases have also happened many times in Har Ki Pauri. It is worth noting that in Uttarakhand, food shop and dhaba operators on the Kanwar Yatra route have been asked to write their name, address and mobile number outside their establishment. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that this decision was taken on the day of the meeting called on July 12 to review the preparations for the Kanwar Yatra. He said that the purpose of this decision is not to target anyone or put them in any trouble.

The Chief Minister said, “Why should anyone have a problem in introducing themselves.” Earlier also, criminal incidents have taken place at Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar, when tension arose after a hotel and dhaba operator hid his real identity. He said that this decision has been taken to avoid such situations. Inspector General of Police of Garhwal region K S Nagnyal said that this decision has been taken with a view to maintaining social harmony during the Kanwar Yatra.

He said that the shop and dhaba operators on the Kanwar Yatra route like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Neelkanth and Gangotri have been asked to put up signboards outside their establishments and write their name, address and mobile phone number. During the Kanwar Yatra starting from 22nd July, Shiva devotees come to various places including Haridwar to collect Ganga water.
