Truth and Reality

In Uttarakhand, daughters are lagging behind sons in vocational education, Minister Rawat also told a reason

There may be talk of 50% reservation for girls in the student union in the state, but the surprising thing is that they are not equal to boys in studies. Due to professional education being expensive and not being available near home, girls are lagging behind boys in this. This is being confirmed by the figures of government higher education institutions.

In fact, about 66% of the children studying in state universities and colleges are girl students, while only 34% are boys. When Amar Ujala investigated this huge difference between the boys and girls, some surprising facts came to light.

The surprising thing is that most of the students of the state are doing professional courses from private institutions, while girls are taking general degrees from government institutions due to professional courses being expensive and private institutions not being near home. At the same time, educationists clearly say that if there are professional courses in government institutions too, then this picture can easily change.

…So this is the real problem

Compared to girls, boys are easily going out of the state or out of their city for professional studies, whereas in the mountains, due to private colleges being far away and professional education being expensive, most of the girls are being taught in government colleges near their homes.

The figures of government educational institutions are shocking

In the higher educational institutions of the state, there are 65.8 percent girl students and 34.2 percent boys. A total of 152387 students are studying in them. In which the number of girl students is 100272 and the number of boys is 52115. There are a total of 97997 students in government college campuses, in which 30130 are boys and 67867 are girls. In non-government colleges, out of 34590, there are 14730 boys and 19860 girls. There are a total of 19800 students in university campuses. In which 7255 are boys and 12545 are girls.

Sons have a greater desire for professional courses

Now there are big colleges available in every block, this is the biggest reason that the number of daughters in state universities and colleges is more than sons. At the same time, it is also true that sons are taking less admission in government institutions due to the desire for professional courses.

Some parents are focusing more on the education of sons

It is true that daughters are doing well in every field today, but even today there are some parents who focus more on the education of sons than daughters. They believe that daughters have to get married and go to another house, but sons are the heirs of the family, so they show more interest in giving them a good education and spending more on them.
