In UP, DM’s relative was ‘kidnapped’, minister’s relative extorted ‘ransom’, police officer was sent to police line after filing a complaint
In Ballia, UP, a relative of a ‘collector’ was kidnapped in broad daylight by a relative of a ‘minister’ of the state and a ransom of ten lakhs was extracted. Filing a case against the relative of the minister in this kidnapping case and arresting him proved costly for the Sadar Kotwal. Due to the minister’s influence, the SP has put the Kotwal on line duty.
Petrol pump owner of Chitbaragaon, Uddeshya Kumar Gupta, son of Avinash Kumar Gupta, had alleged in the complaint given to Sadar Kotwali that last Friday at 3 pm, he was returning after parking his car in the district panchayat office for inspection related work in the sub-registrar office in Ballia. Uddeshya Gupta had alleged that Dinesh Pratap Singh and Krishna Pratap Singh, residents of Sankat Mochan Colony Civil Line, started abusing him. After which both the men kidnapped him, forcibly made him sit in their car and took him to their house and released him after extracting ten lakh rupees.
It is said that Uddeshya Gupta is a relative of an IAS officer of the state who is the District Magistrate in a district. When Uddesh informed the District Magistrate about the incident, he called the police officer of Ballia, on which Kotwal Sanjay Singh registered a case against both the accused under sections 140 (2), 351 (3), 352 of the Indian Penal Code and arrested the accused and sent him to the court, from where the court sent him to jail.
A relative of the accused is also a minister in the state government, when he came to know about this, he accused the Kotwal of registering a case and arresting him without investigating the matter. After which, on the strict attitude of the minister, the SP put Sadar Kotwal Sanjay Singh on line duty with immediate effect.
The effect of the minister’s call was that Dinesh Pratap Singh, who was in jail in the petrol pump businessman kidnapping case, suddenly complained of chest pain and the jail administration admitted him to the district hospital, where the doctor admitted him there after seeing his serious condition.
Dinesh Pratap Singh, who is undergoing treatment in the hospital, says that the allegation of kidnapping on him is false. Uddesh Gupta’s family had taken a loan of ten lakh rupees from him to run the petrol pump, for which he also has the documents. Purpose was not kidnapped. He himself came to my house for talks. Kotwal Sanjay Singh had demanded five lakh rupees from me, and when I did not pay, he filed a fake case.
