Red alert issued for heavy rain in Uttarakhand…
Red and orange alerts for heavy to very heavy rains have been issued in most districts of Uttarakhand today. According to the Meteorological Center, there is a red alert for heavy to very heavy rains in Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar on Tuesday. Orange alert for heavy rains has been issued in Pauri, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Almora districts. At the same time, there is a possibility of several rounds of heavy rains in other districts as well. Director of Meteorological Center Vikram Singh has instructed to avoid unnecessary travel during the rains. Also, caution has been asked to be taken in landslide and sensitive areas during the day as well as night.
It has been advised not to keep vehicles and cattle in open places. In view of the heavy rain warning issued by the Meteorological Center and Disaster Management Authority, orders have been given to keep all Anganwadi centers and schools of Dehradun closed on Tuesday. In the order issued by the District Magistrate, it has been said that in view of the heavy rains, educational institutions should be kept closed on July 23 for the safety of children. In view of the heavy rain alert, holidays have been declared in schools and Anganwadi centres in Champawat and Pithoragarh.
On the other hand, after the death of three pilgrims on the Gaurikund Kedarnath walking route on Sunday, the administration has banned the journey on the walking route from 5 pm to sunrise the next day. Instructions have been given not to conduct the journey even during the day in case of heavy rain. Soldiers have been deployed at all sensitive places on the walking route for the safety of the pilgrims. Deputy District Magistrate Anil Kumar Shukla has appealed to the pilgrims coming to Kedarnath Dham to set out on the journey only after taking information about the weather.
