Uttarakhand: Disaster victims will not have to wait for compensation, the government has changed the policy

Every year in Uttarakhand, people have to face many challenges during the monsoon season. While fighting these challenges, many have to lose their lives. While they also have to bear losses worth lakhs. This monsoon season i.e. from June 15 till now, 38 people have lost their lives in road accidents. While 129 people have been injured. 26 people have died due to natural calamities. During this period, 17 people have also been injured. Apart from this, 148 cattle have also been lost. While 544 houses have been damaged across the state.
To compensate for this loss occurring every year in the state, Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority i.e. USDMA distributes disaster relief amount of lakhs every year to the disaster victims and the affected families. But the delay in distributing the compensation amount keeps scratching the wounds of the disaster victims all the time. At the same time, now on the instructions of Chief Minister Dhami, Disaster Management has made a new policy regarding disaster compensation.
Compensation team at block level
According to Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman, instructions have been given by the government to all the districts regarding disaster compensation that a separate team should be formed for compensation at every block level. He told that earlier only one team used to work for compensation in a district. But now it will be beneficial to form different teams at the block level. Now many teams can work together for compensation in the disaster area.
Compensation distributed to 10 thousand people in 7 days
Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman, giving the example of the recent disaster in Udham Singh Nagar, said that about 10 different teams were formed here. Who worked on compensation. The benefit of this was that the survey work of the people affected by the disaster was completed within two days and everyone received compensation within a week. He told that about 10 thousand people were affected by the disaster here. This was a big task which has been completed within a week.
He informed that the Disaster Management Authority has ensured that now efforts are being made to distribute compensation within 24 hours in case of minor disasters, within 72 hours in case of slightly bigger disasters and within a week if 5 thousand to 10 thousand people are affected.
