Indian women’s archery team made it to the quarter-finals, Deepika Kumari had a bad day

India has directly entered the quarter-finals of the women’s archery team event. The trio of Ankita Bhakt, Bhajan Kaur and Deepika Kumari secured fourth place in the ranking round event. Ankita finished 11th, Bhajan and Deepika finished 22nd and 23rd respectively.

Team India scored 1983 points with 21 bullseyes. Korea topped the list with 2046 points, while China and Mexico finished second and third with 1996 and 1986 points respectively.

India’s three archers Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhakt and Bhajan Kaur took the field in the women’s archery ranking round on Thursday in the qualification and ranking round in archery. Ankita finished 11th with her season best score of 666, while Bhajan finished 22nd with a score of 659 and Deepika finished 23rd with a score of 658.

Sihyeon set a world record

Korea’s Sihyeon finished first with a score of 694 and Suhyeon Nam finished second with a score of 688. China’s Xiaolei Yang finished third with a score of 673. Sihyeon set a world record by scoring 694. Earlier, the world record for qualifying for women was 692. The world record for qualifying for men is 702.

Ankita performed her best

In the first round, Ankita Bhakt hit the bullseye for India. At the same time, in the second round, Ankita hit a total of 3 bullseyes during 12 arrow shots. Deepika’s poor start troubled her and it took her till the third round to get her first bullseye. In the final Mexico defeated India by 3 points, Ankita scored 666 points. Bhajan scored 659 points while Deepika scored 658 points.
