Uttarakhand: PCS officer Ramji Sharan’s suspension ends, he was suspended after ECI’s recommendation

The government has given relief to PCS officer Ramji Sharan Sharma who was suspended on the recommendation of the Election Commission of India. The surprising thing is that Ramji Sharan Sharma had knocked the door of the High Court against the decision of the government itself, but ignoring this, the process of giving the charge sheet, completing the investigation and withdrawing the suspension order has been completed within 2 months. The Election Commission of India was informed before withdrawing the suspension. Nothing has been clarified on this yet. No such information was given to the Election Commission of India before withdrawing the suspension from the CEO office.

PCS officer Ramji Sharan Sharma who was suspended on serious charges like not fulfilling his duties during the Lok Sabha elections in Dehradun, negligence in election duty, not following the instructions of the District Election Officer and misbehaving with him, has been given relief within two months. This is the situation when Ramji Sharan Sharma had challenged the decision of the government’s suspension in the High Court.

Ramji Sharan Sharma was suspended on 1 June 2024 by removing him from the post of ADM of Dehradun in the middle of the process of Lok Sabha elections. After this, the Additional Chief Secretary Personnel also issued a charge sheet to the suspended officer in the order of allegations. The special thing is that after the issuance of the charge sheet, investigation was done on various points of the allegations. In the investigation report, the allegations leveled at the level of the District Election Officer were found to be wrong. The special thing is that this entire matter related to the suspension of the PCS officer was brought to a final decision within 2 months.

The PCS organization had also pleaded in favor of PCS officer Ramji Sharan Sharma from Additional Chief Secretary Personnel to Chief Secretary and Chief Minister Darbar. After this Ramji Sharan reached the High Court. He did not get any relief from here. However, now the government has issued an order to withdraw the suspension after completing the investigation. Separate orders will be issued regarding the deployment of Ramji Sharan Sharma.

PCS officer Ramji Sharan Sharma was suspended on the recommendation of the Election Commission of India, so it is not clear whether the government brought this entire matter to the notice of the Election Commission of India before withdrawing the suspension or not. According to the information available with ETV Bharat, no information has been given to the Election Commission of India in the past regarding this order of withdrawal of suspension from the Chief Electoral Officer’s office. It has also come to light that this decision of the government to withdraw the suspension on the action taken after the recommendation of the Election Commission of India during the code of conduct of the Lok Sabha elections has now been sent to the Election Commission of India from the Chief Electoral Officer’s office.
