Uttarakhand: 30 people have lost their lives in natural disaster in Garhwal division, displacement has started, Lok Adalats will be held

Commissioner Garhwal Vinay Shankar Pandey held a press conference in the divisional office auditorium Pauri. During this, he shared information about the efforts being made at the government-administration level for relief and rescue operations from the disaster, Chardham Yatra, Kanwar Yatra.

Displacement of disaster victims started in Garhwal division

Giving information about the loss of life and property due to the disaster in all the seven districts, the Commissioner Garhwal Division said that till now more than 30 people and more than 100 animals have been lost due to the disaster. He said that by strictly following the guidelines given by the Chief Minister regarding relief and rescue from the disaster, immediate assessment of loss of life and property and other formalities are being completed at the disaster affected area / site. Referring to the recent disaster in Tingarh area of ​​Ghansali area of ​​​​Tehri Garhwal district, he said that in-principle approval has been given at the government level on the issue related to displacement. He talked about the approval of retaining wall due to increasing erosion of Bhilangana river.

So many pilgrims have visited so far

Regarding the Chardham Yatra, he said that so far 32 lakh pilgrims have visited the holy places in the first phase of the Yatra. He said that a meeting is being called with all the stakeholders in Rishikesh on 03 August 2024 regarding the preparations for the second phase. Taking seriously the question of officials not picking up the phone calls, Commissioner Garhwal said that strict instructions have already been issued to the officials by the Chief Minister in this regard. Said that the government and administration are constantly trying to make the journey smooth and safe. He said that a helicopter is deployed to deal with serious cases related to disaster and health.

Lok Adalats will be held in the first week of August

To resolve the complaints / problems of the general public, the District Magistrates of all the divisions will organize Lok Adalat in the first week of the coming month of August. He said that since the number of Gram Panchayat Development Officers is less than the number of Gram Panchayats, it is natural for there to be a delay in resolving the problems of the public. He said that to solve this problem, Panchayat visit rosters of Panchayat Secretaries will be issued. Accurate information about their availability will be available through geo tag attendance. Online (VC) arrangement has been made in the divisional office Pauri for resolving the urgent cases of the Commissioner Court. He said that with the proper use of technology, resolving many such cases and problems has become possible.
