CM Dhami held a review meeting regarding heavy rains in Uttarakhand, asked the officials to be alert

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a review meeting with officials at the State Emergency Operations Centre on Thursday morning to assess the status of rescue and relief operations in areas affected by heavy rains. During the meeting, CM Dhami said that rescue teams remained active throughout the night and evacuated people to safer places due to the impact of rains. He said, “We have received information about disruption of life in many areas across the state. As a result, rescue teams worked overnight to evacuate people to safer places.” The Chief Minister assured that he is in constant touch with the local administration. He directed the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams to remain on high alert in the affected areas.

Asked officials to remain alert

After the meeting, Dhami said, “I have directed the officials to assist the people affected by heavy rains and evacuate those who are in danger due to the rising water level of rivers and streams to safer places. Everyone has been instructed to remain alert.” He also informed that relief and rescue operations are underway in severely affected areas like Rambada, Bhimbali and Jakhaniyali. CM Dhami is aware of the situation by discussing with the local administration and public representatives and has directed them to assess the damage and take immediate action. The Chief Minister emphasized that ensuring the safety of residents as well as devotees and tourists is the top priority. Dhami said, “Our entire team is working diligently to deal with the situation. We request everyone to travel only after getting updated information about the weather and current conditions.” The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert in Uttarakhand for the next five days. The Uttarakhand government has also issued safety advisory for Chardham Yatra pilgrims amid heavy rain forecast across the state. Officials have appealed to devotees to postpone their journey and stay in safe places till the weather conditions improve. DGP Abhinav Kumar has urged pilgrims and devotees to remain alert and start their journey only after a break. He stressed the importance of staying in safe places and following the instructions of local authorities. The DGP said, “The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert in most districts of Uttarakhand. Your safety is our priority.
