Rain havoc in Uttarakhand, chaos due to cloudburst in Kedarnath Marg, Ghansali, nine people died in different accidents

Rain has wreaked havoc in Uttarakhand till late Wednesday night. Life has been disrupted in many places across the state. Nine people have died in different accidents in the state while five are missing. Kedarghati and Tehri have suffered the most damage. After the overnight rain, officials from the administration to the government level remained engaged with promptness.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also took an update on the damage caused by the rain on the phone at night. The Disaster Secretary kept taking stock of the damage caused by the rain in the control room. Apart from this, SDRF teams continued to carry out rescue operations at the incident sites throughout the night. Flood-like conditions were also seen in Dehradun due to rain. DM Dehradun Sonika also reached the control room at night and took stock of the situation.

The water level of the Mandakini river crossed the danger mark due to cloudburst on the Kedarnath Yatra route. The administration evacuated Gaurikund, Sonprayag, Gauri Mai temple at night. As a precaution, 200 people were lodged in the guest house. Heavy damage has been caused by cloudburst in Ghansali of Tehri.

Three people of the same family have died here. Schools are closed in Dehradun, Tehri and Pauri today due to heavy rains till late night. The government has suspended the Char Dham Yatra today and has banned registration. Two children died due to house collapse in Bahadarabad of Haridwar. Two people have died due to electric shock in Roorkee. Flood-like conditions have arisen in Dehradun due to heavy rains.

Two people went missing due to water flowing on the road in Nalapani. The body of one of them has been recovered. The Rispana river is in spate. There is news of water entering the houses at many places. Drains were seen flowing like rivers on the road throughout the night. The Dehradun Mussoorie road remained closed due to landslide since evening. Which was opened at night after hard work. During this, hundreds of people remained stranded on both sides of the road. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain even today.
