Kerala: So far 190 people have died in Wayanad, 200 are missing, Bailey bridge has been built, rescue work is going on

The death toll in the disaster that occurred two days ago in Wayanad, Kerala, is continuously increasing. According to the information received, so far at least 190 people have died after the landslide. More than 200 people are missing. The army has rescued about 1,000 people and 220 people are still missing.

Successful construction of Bailey Bridge

At the same time, the Indian Army has successfully constructed a Bailey Bridge in Wayanad. To ensure the strength and stability of the bridge, the army first transported its vehicles across the river. The newly constructed bridge will now facilitate the transportation of heavy vehicles including earth movers to the landslide site.

Finding survivors becomes a challenge

Rescue teams are trying in challenging conditions to find survivors in the disaster that occurred two days ago. Rescue efforts are being greatly hampered due to difficult terrain. This problem has increased further due to destroyed roads and bridges. Additionally, the lack of heavy machinery has slowed down the process of removing thick mud and large uprooted trees, causing extensive damage to buildings.

Contribution to relief fund

Several celebrities and politicians contributed to the relief fund set up for the Wayanad landslide victims. Popular Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil, his actor wife Nazriya Nazim and their production company donated Rs 25 lakh to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Malayalam superstar Mammootty handed over a cheque of Rs 20 lakh as the first instalment to Kerala minister P Rajeev.
