Uttarakhand: CM Dhami held a high-level meeting on the situation in Kedarnath, Garhwal Commissioner was made the nodal officer

Due to heavy rains in Rudraprayag district, the Kedarnath Yatra route has been damaged at two places. Due to which the Kedarnath Yatra has been stopped for the time being. In such a situation, Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey has been made the nodal officer to organize the infrastructure in the affected areas of the Kedarnath Yatra route.
On Saturday, CM Dhami held a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence. During the meeting, the CM directed the officials of the government to continuously monitor the relief and rescue operations in the affected areas. Along with this, whatever assistance is being sought by the District Magistrates of the districts for relief and rescue operations, he said to take immediate action on it and provide cooperation. The CM directed the Secretary Disaster Management, Secretary Public Works Department and top officials of the Energy Department to immediately visit Rudraprayag district and work towards organizing the rescue and infrastructure.
The CM interacted with the District Magistrate of Rudraprayag district through virtual medium and directed to try to start the traffic on the Kedarnath footpath as soon as possible. The passengers stranded on the footpath should be stopped at safe places. Food should be arranged for them. Keep updating the families of the devotees about their safety. The helpline numbers issued should also be widely publicized. Also, in case the weather improves, the devotees should be rescued as soon as possible.
The CM directed that the construction work of the damaged 150 meter road between Gaurikund and Sonprayag should be done soon. Police should behave well with the devotees, and CM Dhami also talked about keeping the electricity and drinking water supply system smooth in the affected areas. Rudraprayag DM Saurabh Gaharwar said that work is going on at the places where debris has come on the Kedarnath walking route. In case the weather is favorable, these roads will be repaired in the next one week.
