Uttar Pradesh: ‘Ugh on Waqf…’, Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya gave advice to the opposition

A bill related to amendment in the law governing the Waqf Boards was introduced in the Lok Sabha. Meanwhile, opposition MPs created a ruckus in the House. At the same time, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has given an advice to the opposition regarding the uproar of opposition MPs in the House.

Regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024, Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya posted on social media account X and wrote – “The opposition should not utter a word on Waqf. The Modi government is committed to reforms in every field.”

Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju introduced the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024 in the Lok Sabha and proposed to send the bill to the Joint Committee of Parliament as per the demand of various parties. Opposition members vehemently opposed the bill and said that it is an attack on the Constitution, federalism and minorities.

Regarding the Waqf Bill in the Lok Sabha, Samajwadi Party MP from Rampur Mohibullah Nadvi said that why is this injustice being done to Muslims? Along with this, he said in the House that the Constitution is being trampled upon, you (the government) are going to make a big mistake. We will have to bear the brunt of this for centuries. Along with this, the SP MP said, “If this law is passed, the minorities will not feel safe. It may happen that the public comes on the streets again.”

Mohsin Raza welcomed the Waqf Bill

On the other hand, Mohsin Raza, who was a minister in the UP government and BJP’s Muslim face, said about the Waqf Board Amendment Bill that we welcome this bill, the old Waqf law was the sin of the Congress. He said that the Waqf Board was created to protect the properties of the Waqf.
