Sitting in Shimla, he searched for Dehradun’s car showrooms on internet media, did a recce and looted lakhs of rupees

Searched for Doon’s car showrooms on Google Doon Police has arrested four miscreants of Mohite Gang of Madhya Pradesh who targeted car showrooms. So far, the miscreants have broken the locks of four showrooms in Dehradun and stolen goods worth lakhs. Whereas, apart from Dehradun, the gang had also identified some car showrooms in Haridwar for theft after doing recce.

All the four members of the gang had come to Dehradun again to carry out the theft in these identified showrooms. Meanwhile, the police caught them. Investigation has revealed that the gang leader had gone to Shimla (Himachal) for a trip, where he had identified Doon’s car showrooms for theft on the internet media.

CCTV camera footage checked

SSP Ajay Singh said that on the night of August 7, thieves broke the locks of DPM Hyundai and Maruti Nexa showrooms located on Haridwar bypass in the same night and stole cash along with valuables. In this case, Nehru Colony SHO Mohan Singh registered a case and started searching for the accused. For this, the footage of CCTV cameras installed around the incident spot was checked.

On Thursday, the police received information that the members of the gang who committed theft in the car showroom located at Haridwar bypass have come to Doon again to target a showroom. On this, the police team conducted intensive checking in Jogiwala area, in which four members of the gang were arrested.

The accused have been identified as Mewalal Mohite, resident of village Dugwada, district Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, Sunil Mohite, resident of village Umar village, district Balsad, Gujarat, Dev Singh Solanki, resident of village Borgaon Deendayal Nagar district Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh and Suresh alias Suraj Mohite, resident of village Champanagar Dugwada, district Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh. Stolen goods have been recovered from them.

Information of various car showrooms of Dehradun gathered

During interrogation, the gang leader Mewalal told that he along with the gang members had committed theft in Oberoi Motors and Tanya Automobile Private Limited located in Patelnagar area in March 2024. Earlier, Patelnagar Kotwali police arrested him in the case of theft and sent him to jail. On 25th July, he appeared in Dehradun court.

After appearing in court, he went to Shimla on 26th July. There, he gathered information about various car showrooms in Dehradun through internet media and on 2nd August, he came to Dehradun and did a recce and identified Maruti Nexa showroom located at Haridwar bypass, DPM Hyundai showroom, Rohan Motors located at GMS Road, Yamaha showroom located at Jogiwala for theft.

Gang members called from Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat

To carry out the crime, Mewalal called three gang members from Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat to Dehradun. On the night of 7th August, first the accused carried out the theft at DPM Hyundai showroom and then at Maruti Nexa showroom.

To escape from the police, all four went to Haridwar, where after staying for a day or two, they did a recce of other car showrooms. Mahindra showroom on Roorkee Road was also identified by the accused for theft. As per the plan, the accused came back to Dehradun on 8th August to commit theft again. Before that, the police arrested them.
