‘Rummy-poker is not gambling’, Allahabad HC gave verdict on gaming app

Poker-Rummy usually comes under the category of gambling. This is a gambling from which it is advised to stay away. But according to Allahabad High Court, this is not gambling. Recently, an application was filed in Allahabad High Court. This application has been filed by M/s DM Gaming Private Limited. In such a situation, during the hearing of this case, the court said that poker and rummy i.e. card game is not gambling. Rather it is a game of skill. After this hearing, it has become a topic of discussion on social media.

Know what is the whole matter?

Permission to run the gaming unit of M/s DM Gaming Private Limited was rejected. Considering this game as gambling, the DCP office did not allow it to run. Frustrated by this, M/s DM Gaming Private Limited knocked the door of the court.

The court called it skill

While giving the verdict in this case, the court said that it is not right to consider these games as gambling and not recognize them. It is necessary to have solid evidence and record regarding not giving recognition. Along with this, the court has also said that getting permission to run a gaming unit does not mean that the authorities will not monitor activities like illegal gambling. Activities like illegal gambling will be monitored. The court admitted that this is not a gambling but a skill.
