Uttarakhand: Dehradun police filed chargesheet in just 19 days in the case of gang rape of a teenager in ISBT

After 19 days of investigation, the police has filed a chargesheet against the five accused involved in the gang rape of a teenager inside a bus at Dehradun ISBT. The police has also added a section of hiding evidence against the accused in the chargesheet.

Let us tell you that the Dehradun police, considering the sensitivity of the case in the rape case of a teenager at ISBT, has filed a 250-page chargesheet in the court on the basis of solid evidence against the accused in just 19 days. Along with this, the police has made a total of 35 witnesses in the chargesheet. Among these, statements of two witnesses, the victim and an eyewitness have been recorded before the magistrate.

The five accused had looted the honor of the teenager

Let us tell you that on August 12, the accused Devendra met the teenager at Delhi’s Kashmiri Gate station, who was taking information from him about the bus going to Punjab. The accused brought the teenager to Dehradun, telling her that he would go with him to Dehradun and from there send her to Punjab via Paonta. Where the accused raped the girl late at night after all the passengers got off the bus. After raping her, the accused called his four companions to rape her.

Know what has happened in the rape case so far?

  • On the night of August 17, Child Welfare registered a case of rape of a teenager inside the bus at Patel Nagar police station.
  • On August 18, the police took immediate action in the incident and arrested all the five accused involved in the rape incident.
  • On August 19, SSP Dehradun formed an SIT team.
  • On August 20, a team from SIT left for Delhi to collect evidence related to the incident. Where the team collected CCTV and other evidence related to the incident from Kashmiri Gate bus station and the surrounding areas on the Delhi-Dehradun route.
  • On August 20, eyewitnesses of the incident and on August 21, the victim were presented before the court and their statements were recorded. In the statements before the court, the victim told that she has been raped before as well. On which the police immediately registered a zero FIR and sent it to the concerned state for taking action.
  • For collection of evidence related to the incident, all the five accused arrested in the incident were taken in police custody remand from 23rd August. During PCR, evidence related to the incident was collected from the house of the accused on their identification.
  • On 26th August, during the investigation, the initial and supplementary medical reports of the victim were obtained.
  • On 27th August, the reports of counseling done by the counselor appointed in the child helpline of the victim were obtained and included in the investigation.
  • The important evidence related to the incident, DVR, was sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Chandigarh and the evidence related to the incident (clothes and other items) obtained on the identification of the accused were sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory, Panditwadi for investigation.
  • During the investigation, statements of a total of 35 witnesses related to the incident were recorded.
  • On 2nd September, the five accused arrested in the incident were made to undergo an identification parade in front of the victim and eyewitnesses of the incident. In which the girl identified all the five accused.
  • After a detailed investigation of the entire incident and collecting all the evidence related to the incident, a 250 page charge sheet was filed in the fast track court.
