Himachal Pradesh: Seize it or allow it to be demolished… New twist in Shimla Masjid dispute, know why the Muslim side took a U-turn

There was a protest on Wednesday in Sanjauli area of Shimla demanding demolition of the illegal part of a mosque (Shimla Masjid Case). The protesters were protesting against the illegal construction of the mosque. Local people were present on the streets for more than 5 hours. During this, they also clashed with the security personnel. The police even put up barricades to stop the protesters, but the angry people broke it too. The police used water cannons and lathicharge to disperse the crowd. During this, about 10 people including police and women were injured.
- According to NDTV reporter VD Sharma, the mosque committee has now come forward itself demanding the sealing of the illegal construction.
- The committee has submitted a memorandum to the Municipal Corporation and said that the illegal construction of the mosque should be demolished or it should be sealed.
- The committee admitted that illegal construction has been done in the mosque. According to the committee, outsiders have come to Himachal Pradesh. Illegal construction has been done because of them. Due to this, the atmosphere of brotherhood in Himachal is changing. Shimla’s mosque committees and Waqf Board decided to remove illegal constructions by sitting together.

Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh said the government is seriously concerned about the deterioration of the situation and is keeping a close watch on all developments. He said, “We are in touch with the central leadership and Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and have spoken to party president Mallikarjun Kharge and party in-charge Rajiv Shukla. They are also concerned that the law and order situation should not deteriorate.”
Slogans of “Jai Shri Ram” and “Hindu Ekta Zindabad”
Hundreds of protesters gathered at Sabzi Mandi Dhalli, raising slogans of “Jai Shri Ram” and “Hindu Ekta Zindabad” and violating prohibitory orders, they ignored the warning of the administration and started marching towards Sanjauli. They broke the barricades erected near the Dhalli tunnel. When the protesters, gathered on the call of some Hindu groups, entered Sanjauli and broke other barricades erected near the mosque, the police resorted to lathicharge and water cannon to disperse them.

During this time, the police took into custody some protesters including Hindu Jagran Manch secretary Kamal Gautam and again put up barricades near the mosque. But the protesters were not ready to move from there. They were continuously raising slogans against the administration.
