Uttarakhand: Big disclosure in Dehradun clock tower theft case, SSP revealed the ‘secret’, made people aware of the truth

On receiving a complaint of theft of goods from Ghantaghar, today the Commissioner of Municipal Corporation and CO City visited the spot with the forensic team and inspected it. During the inspection, the double locks of the Ghantaghar control room were found to be intact. Whereas, the wires of the clock and flood light have been found to be cut. All the valuable equipment were found safe on the spot and no evidence of theft or forced entry has been found.

Prima facie, negligence has been committed in the maintenance of the keys of the Ghantaghar control room. In this regard, the police has corresponded with the Municipal Corporation to conduct a departmental inquiry at their level. At the same time, in the investigation report given by CO City regarding the matter, the Section Outpost in-charge has been sent back to the outpost after no negligence was found.

The Executive Engineer of the Municipal Corporation had registered a case

Let us tell you that on September 10, the Executive Engineer of Dehradun Municipal Corporation had registered a case in Kotwali Nagar regarding damage to the wires of the motor and flood light in Ghantaghar. After which today the Commissioner of Municipal Corporation, CO City and Inspector Kotwali Nagar reached the spot to investigate the case and the incident. On inspection, the control room in the clock tower was found to be locked.

No evidence of any forced entry was found at the scene. During inspection, the wires connected to the clock were found to be cut, but the valuable equipment kept there was found to be safe. The reason for the clocks and speakers of the clock tower not working was found to be lack of connectivity. Which is probably due to the wires being cut.

At the same time, cut wires were found in the control room on the spot. They were neither stolen nor was there an attempt to take them away. The forensic team was called on the spot and photography and videography of the scene was done. Also, since the locks in the control room were found to be intact, it was found that the wires were tampered with in the incident. Which was probably done by those people who had access to the keys of the control room. In this regard, the police has written to the Municipal Corporation to investigate at their level regarding negligence in the maintenance of the keys.

“For a fair investigation of the whole case, Section Outpost In-charge Sub Inspector Harsh Arora was line attached and the investigation of the case was handed over to CO City. In the investigation report given by CO City regarding the investigation of the case, no negligence was found on the part of Section Outpost In-charge in the whole case, on which he was sent back to the outpost.”
