Uttarakhand: Rape accused absconded from Lohaghat judicial prison in Champawat, police engaged in search released a poster

The accused who committed the rape incident in Chalthi area has escaped from judicial prison Lohaghat. A case was registered under Section 64 against the accused 32-year-old Shankar Lal Chaudhary, son of Vipat Lal Chaudhary, resident of Kanchanpur Nepal, under Chowki Chalthi, Kotwali Champawat, on August 28 for raping a woman who had gone to collect grass in the forest. The police arrested the accused on August 30 and presented him in the court.

According to police station in-charge Lohaghat Ashok Kumar, as per the court order, the accused Shankar Lal was sent to judicial prison Lohaghat in judicial custody. The accused escaped from judicial prison on Thursday morning, September 12. A police team is engaged in searching for the accused. How the accused escaped is also being investigated.

The police released the poster of the accused and said that the accused Shankar is wearing a green T-shirt and black half pants.
