Uttarakhand: The centre has approved the expansion of Haldwani Cancer Hospital, a 196 bed hospital will be ready soon

The central government has approved the expansion of Swami Ram Cancer Hospital in Haldwani. Also, the Ministry of Forest and Environment has also given permission to cut 44 trees. In such a situation, now the process of expansion of cancer hospital has become easier. Health Secretary R Rajesh Kumar said that after the construction of this cancer hospital, cancer patients will get all the cancer tests and better treatment facilities at one place. Due to which cancer patients will not have to go to other cities for treatment.

Cancer hospital will be constructed in two phases

Actually, a project of Rs 103 crore 65 lakh 65 thousand has been approved for the establishment of State Cancer Institute, Haldwani. Due to which Rs 69 crore was released to the state government in the year 2021. The state government has already approved 152 posts for this hospital. Along with this, the Health Department has sent a letter to the government for the approval of 255 other posts. Also informed that other works including land have been completed to start the construction work of the first phase of State Cancer Hospital, Haldwani.

Process of purchasing high level machines started

Secretary informed that the construction work of the hospital will be done in two phases. In the first phase, the construction work of ward and service block will be done. The work of which will start soon. Also, the process of purchasing high level state-of-the-art machines of the hospital is also going on. In the second phase of hospital construction, diagnostic block, nuclear medicine block, preventive oncology, and other specialty and super specialty departments will be established. Due to which other tests including blood can be done at one place. There will be 31 departments including New Clear Medicine here.

196 beds will be constructed

CT simulator machines will be installed for the therapy of cancer patients. Other tests including CT scan, MRI, ultrasound will also be done in the radiology department. There will also be blood bank, pathology lab, microbiology, biochemistry lab in the diagnostic block. A total of 196 beds will be constructed in the first and second phases. Along with this, a night shelter with 141 beds will also be built for the patients and their attendants to stay.

Let us tell you that the Central Government had given approval to the Government Medical College, Haldwani to regularize the campus built on 1.75 hectares of forest land in Haldwani. Under the first phase of construction work, 44 trees will be cut for the construction of new wards and new service blocks. The Ministry of Forest and Environment has given approval for this.
