Uttarakhand government is taking legal advice on the selection of DGP
The Union Public Service Commission has sent a panel of three names for the post of Director General of Police in Uttarakhand. This panel includes the names of IPS Deepam Seth (1995 batch), Dr. PVK Prasad (1995 batch) and Amit Kumar Sinha (1997 batch).
The name of Abhinav Kumar (1996 batch), who is handling the post of Director General of Police, was not accepted because it was included in the list of Uttar Pradesh cadre. Now the government is examining the panel sent by the Union Public Service Commission as well as considering the legal aspects.
The post of Director General of Police is vacant for six months
The post of Director General of Police in the state has been vacant for six months. Currently, IPS Abhinav Kumar is in the role of Director General of Police in charge. The government had sent the names of seven IPS officers to the Central Government for DPC for the post of Director General of Police. The name of in-charge DGP Abhinav Kumar was also included in this.
On September 30, DPC was held for the post of Director General of Police in Union Public Service Commission, New Delhi. In this, all the names sent by the Uttarakhand government were considered. After this, the commission put its seal on the panel of three names.
Name of DGP in charge not included due to technical reasons
Name of DGP in charge Abhinav Kumar was not included in this due to technical reasons. His name is included in the list of Uttar Pradesh cadre. However, he has been working in Uttarakhand since before the state was formed and is serving in this state. This matter went to the High Court and the High Court has given a stay order to him to continue working in Uttarakhand.
