Fireworks banned in Delhi till January 1, decision taken after seeing deteriorating AQI
A ban has been imposed on the production, storage, sale and use of firecrackers in Delhi from Monday. This ban will remain in force till January 1 next year. Information about this decision has been given in the instructions issued by the Delhi government. Pollution increases a lot in Delhi in winters. For this reason, this time also firecrackers have been banned in Delhi before Diwali.
Immediately after the Dussehra celebrations in Delhi, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee has announced a ban on firecrackers in view of the increasing pollution. A day after the Dussehra celebrations, the air quality in Delhi on Sunday has reached the medium to poor category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, till Monday afternoon, the Air Quality Index i.e. AQI remained in the poor category with 228.
Daily report will have to be given
In the letter of Delhi Pollution Control Committee, Delhi Police has been ordered to implement the instructions to impose a complete ban on firecrackers. It has been said in the instructions that the Delhi Pollution Control Committee will have to give a daily report. On this, Environment Minister Gopal Rai has also appealed to the people to cooperate. Sharing the letter, Gopal Rai wrote, “In view of the increasing pollution in winters, a ban has been imposed on the production, storage, sale and use of firecrackers from today till January 1. The Delhi government has issued instructions regarding the ban. All Delhiites are requested to cooperate. The Air Quality Management Commission on Sunday assessed the air quality and said that it will monitor it closely for a day or more before implementing Stage-1 of the Graded Response Action Plan. Air pollution can be controlled in NCR and surrounding areas.
