Emergency landing of the helicopter of the Chief Election Commissioner of the country in Milam Valley, stranded for several hours, teams dispatched for rescue
The country’s Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar is stuck in Milam Valley of Pithoragarh. His helicopter had to make an emergency landing. State Election Commissioner Vijay Jogdande is also with him. Both the officers are safe and teams have been dispatched to bring them back. Both the officers had reached to study the election at high altitude.
Helicopter had to make an emergency landing
Actually, Central Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar had reached Milam Valley of Pithoragarh to understand the challenges of the election process in high altitude areas. He had a scheduled interaction with local officials and people there. It is being told that both the officers were going to Milam Valley by helicopter. During this time the weather turned bad and the entire area of Munsiyari and the surrounding area was packed. Due to this, the helicopter had to make an emergency landing in Ralam village of Milam Valley. After this, DM Pithoragarh was informed about this through satellite phone.
Teams sent to rescue the officers
After the news of both the officers being trapped in the village, DM Pithoragarh formed three teams to rescue both the officers safely and they have been sent to the spot. DM Pithoragarh has also informed the top officials about this.
According to the information received, three teams have been sent from different places. Since the distance of Ralam village from the district headquarters is very high, it may take time for the teams to reach. It is believed that the teams will be able to reach the spot only by late night. According to Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat, CEC has been contacted through satellite phone and he is safe.
