Jammu and Kashmir: Omar Abdullah’s big decision as soon as he became CM, instructions to DGP- ‘If I go anywhere by road…’

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah took oath as the first Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday (16 October). Meanwhile, as soon as he became the CM, he has instructed the DGP of Jammu and Kashmir that the general public should not face any problem due to his convoy. He has said that no green corridor should be made for him while traveling by road.

He wrote on the social media platform, “I have spoken to the DG that no green corridor should be made or traffic should be stopped when I go anywhere by road. I have instructed him to reduce public inconvenience and minimise the use of sirens.”

He further said, “We have to completely avoid any kind of stick waving or use of aggressive gestures. I am also asking my cabinet colleagues to follow this example. Our conduct in everything should be people-friendly. We are here to serve the people, not to inconvenience them.”

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha administered the oath of CM post

Let us tell you that Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha administered the oath to Omar Abdullah as Chief Minister on Wednesday (October 16). Abdullah has become the Chief Minister for the second time and he is the third generation of the Abdullah family to hold this post after his grandfather Sheikh Abdullah and father Farooq Abdullah. Along with Omar Abdullah, 5 ministers – Sakina Masood (Itu), Javed Dar, Javed Rana, Surinder Chaudhary and Satish Sharma have also taken oath.

Let us tell you that this is the first elected government in the Union Territory after the repeal of Article 370 in 2019. In the recently held assembly elections, the National Conference won 42 out of 90 seats, while its alliance partner Congress got 6 seats. AAP also managed to win 1 seat.
