According to the head of the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence Directorate (GUR), about 11,000 North Korean infantry soldiers are training in eastern Russia to fight in Ukraine. According to The War Zone report, Lieutenant General Kirilo Budanov said, ‘They will be ready to fight in Ukraine on November 1.’ Budanov said that North Korean soldiers will use Russian equipment and ammunition. The first cadre of 2600 soldiers will be sent to the Kursk region, where Ukraine has occupied Russian land. He said that it is not yet known where the rest of the North Korean soldiers will go.
A few hours before Budanov’s remarks, Ukrainian President Zelensky had said that about 10 thousand North Korean soldiers are ready to fight in Ukraine on behalf of Russia. According to the report of news agency AP, Zelensky warned that the involvement of a third country in the war would turn this conflict into a ‘world war’. The Ukrainian President did not give any further information. On Tuesday, Ukrainian media reported that about 3000 soldiers are becoming part of Russia’s ‘Special Buryat Battalion’ to fight in Ukraine.
Increased cooperation between Russia and North Korea

Last week, North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un sent a message to congratulate Putin on his birthday. In this message, he described Putin as his closest friend. Another sign of growing relations between Russia and North Korea was seen. A report on Thursday said that Russian soldiers are training to use North Korea’s self-propelled artillery.
Israel will give tanks to Ukraine
Meanwhile, news has come that Australia will give its 49 old M1A1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine. Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles gave this information on Thursday. Ukraine had requested these tanks to be given to it a few months ago. Marles said the Australian government is giving Ukraine most of its US-made M1A1 tanks, worth 245 million Australian dollars (163 million US dollars). In Australia, these will be replaced by a fleet of 75 next-generation M1A2 tanks.
Marles said in February that giving old tanks to Ukraine was not on his government’s agenda, but on Thursday he said he did not see this aid as a retreat from his government’s previous stance. Marles told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, “We are constantly talking to the Ukrainian government about how we can best assist them.”
