BJP leader Vijaya Rahatkar became the chairperson of National Commission for Women

Rajasthan BJP co-in-charge Vijaya Rahatkar has been appointed as the chairperson of the National Commission for Women. In a notification issued by the Government of India on Friday, Vijaya Rahatkar has been appointed as the chairperson of the National Commission for Women. Vijaya Rahatkar’s tenure as the national chairperson of the Women’s Commission will be three years.

She has been the chairperson of the Maharashtra Women’s Commission

Vijaya Rahatkar has also served as the chairperson of the Maharashtra Women’s Commission. She is the co-in-charge of BJP’s Rajasthan. After this, she has now been given the responsibility of the chairperson of the National Commission for Women. With this appointment, she has become the first woman from Maharashtra to hold the post of the National Commission for Women. She has the status of a Union Minister of State.

The Women’s Commission has many powers

The National Commission for Women has been given many important powers. Reviewing legal and constitutional issues for the development of women, resolving women’s issues, making parliamentary and legislative recommendations, taking cognizance of women’s complaints and redressing those complaints at the appropriate level are included in their rights.

The Women’s Commission has many powers to advise the central and state governments on policy matters related to women. The Women’s Commission was established under a special law in the year 1992. The Women’s Commission was given the powers of a civil court.
