Big decision of Yadav community in UP; will not give feast on thirteenth day, will stop hookah-paani for those who do not follow the decision

In this era of inflation, the Yadav community in Jhansi has issued an important decree to stop the wasteful expenditure incurred while following the customs after someone’s death. In this meeting of the Yadav community, it was decided unanimously to completely ban the thirteenth day feast. In the decree, the invitation cards printed for the thirteenth day have also been banned.

The responsible people said that this rule will be applicable to all the people of the Yadav community from today itself. If anyone does this, he will be collectively socially boycotted. They have also appealed to the people of other communities to run a campaign against such wasteful expenditure.

A meeting was held between responsible elders of the Yadav community and people with good hold in the society in a banquet hall in Month of Jhansi district on Saturday evening. In the meeting, the thirteenth day feast held after death and the invitation printed for it were unanimously boycotted.

Why boycott the thirteenth day feast: Raghuveer Singh Yadav Khalar, who was presiding over the meeting, said that when someone dies in the family, everyone is sad at that time. But, being forced to follow the customs that have been going on for centuries, events like feasts have to be organized with a sad heart, due to which people of the society are getting buried under debt day by day. Many families have been ruined due to this bad practice.

Kanya Bhoj should be organized instead of thirteenth day feast: Raghuveer Singh Yadav said that in such a situation, it is not right to do Triodashi. There is no mention of doing Triodashi anywhere in the Puranas. In such a situation, people should do Kanya Bhoj for the peace of the soul of the family members. The people present in the meeting agreed to Raghuveer Yadav’s suggestion and issued a decree appealing to everyone that from today onwards, people of Yadav community in the city will not participate in such events. This is a bad practice, which should be stopped as soon as possible.

Those who do not follow the order will be banned: Raghuveer Yadav said that this evil practice has already been stopped in many cities and villages of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Now we all will also have to stay away from this evil practice. Instead of thirteenth day rituals, people can do Brahmin Bhoj and Kanya Bhoj for the peace of the soul of their relatives.

A committee was formed in the meeting to stop this evil practice. Publicity will also be done to stop this evil practice. The responsibility of which will be on the committee members. Raghuveer Yadav said that this work has been started only in Month Nagar. In future, a big campaign will be run by contacting other people of the society to implement it in the entire district.

Qureshi community has banned it many years ago: People of Qureshi community, which comes in Muslim society in Jhansi, have already started such a campaign many years ago, in which there is a campaign named Saral Nikaah, in which marriages are done without dowry and without feast. In this community, there is a complete ban on the feast held on the fortieth day after death. This campaign of Qureshi community started from Jhansi. But, it has expanded and has been implemented in many areas of Bundelkhand as well as areas of Madhya Pradesh.

35 percent population of Yadav community in Jhansi: Dr. Yatentra Singh, Head of the Department of Social Work, Bundelkhand University, said that the decision taken by the Yadav community is commendable. The population of Jhansi district is 6 lakh. According to 35 percent, the population of Yadav community is 2 lakh 10 thousand. On the other hand, if we talk about Montha Nagar only, then the population here is 15 thousand, in which Yadavs are 17 percent i.e. 2550.

At least 1.5 to 2 lakhs are spent on the death feast: In a country where 35 percent people are living below the poverty line, it is not right to waste at least 1.5 to 2 lakh rupees on the feast held after death in this era of inflation. There are some rituals after death, in which according to the Puranas, it is appropriate to give water for 12 days and feed 13 Brahmins. It is absolutely wrong to believe that feeding thousands of people in the name of death feast will give peace to the soul.

Such a practice is absolutely wrong: They believe that today the income of some people has increased and expenses have also increased. But according to today’s trend, it is absolutely wrong to spend wastefully on death feasts, wedding ceremonies, birthdays and many other types of events. It is better to save such money and spend it on people working in the social structure. For this initiative of the Yadav community, it should be implemented by spreading it among the people of all communities in the entire district and Uttar Pradesh.

Ban on wasteful expenditure in every caste: At the same time, Dr. Muhammad Naeem, Assistant Professor of Social Work Department of Bundelkhand University, says that such events should be banned not only in the Yadav community but in every caste. The conservative tradition of events like death feast is promoted only in Bundelkhand. The people here understand their social prestige by organizing such events.

The boycott should be of the feast and not of the person: The president of Bundelkhand Yadav Mahasabha, Rajendra Singh Yadav, has also accepted this as true. Opposing the death feast, he said that if there is a death in someone’s house, then food should be arranged only for relatives on the thirteenth day. It is absolutely wrong to call the people of the entire village and serve the feast. He gave his opinion that this practice will not end by boycotting. The feast should be boycotted and not of any person. People of the society should go and participate in a death feast and return without eating, due to which people will gradually start understanding.
