Major road accident in Uttarakhand, Army truck overturned in Devprayag, soldier died on the spot

A major accident took place on Wednesday, October 23 in Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. An army truck overturned near the NHPC band in Devprayag police station area. Due to this, a soldier got buried under the truck. As soon as the information about the matter was received, Devprayag police station in-charge Mahipal Singh Rawat reached the spot with the police force and started the rescue operation. A soldier died in this accident.

According to the information, the accident happened around 11.30 am. According to the police, they had received information about the road accident on the phone, after which the force was sent from Devprayag police station and Bachelikhal police post. The police went to the spot and saw that the army truck was overturned near the NHPC band, under which a soldier was buried.

The police immediately called Hydra and pulled the soldier out from under the truck. After this, the soldier was immediately taken to CHC Devprayag for treatment. There the doctor declared the soldier dead. On enquiring, it was found that a total of 04 soldiers including Subedar Khushpal Singh of Garhwal Scout were sitting in the truck, who were going from Gauchar to Raiwala Dehradun.

The driver NK Darshan Singh told the police that the pressure of the truck suddenly ended. Due to this, the brakes of the truck stopped working. At the same time, due to climbing the hill, the truck started moving backwards. In these circumstances, the Subedar and other soldiers in the truck started jumping from the truck to save their lives, but then the truck overturned and a soldier came under it. The soldier who died in the accident has been identified as Havildar 3011267X Shailendra Singh (age 35 years), who was a soldier of 26 Rajput Regiment. No other soldier has been injured in the incident.
