The state-wide strike which started on 22 October on the call of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation Employees United Front has ended after 48 hours. The Secretary and Commissioner of Transport Department had held talks with the officials of the United Front. Which was successful.

Strike of Transport Corporation employees ended after 48 hours

Let us tell you that Secretary and Commissioner of Transport Department Brijesh Kumar Sant held talks with the officials of the United Front at 8 pm on Tuesday. In the talks, the situation was clarified on the order (14-10-2024) of the State Transport Authority issued regarding the issuance of permits on nationalized routes.

Decision will be taken soon on other demands

The Secretary said that no new permit will be issued under this order for the time being. The Secretary cleared the confusion spread among the employees. The Secretary assured that a decision will be taken on the other demands of the United Front after consultation with all the parties. After the talks, the convener of the United Front, Ashok Chaudhary, announced the withdrawal of the proposed work boycott of the corporation employees.

Drivers and conductors had gone on leave due to the strike
On Wednesday, talks were held once again under the chairmanship of the Transport Secretary. It was told that due to the strike, some drivers and conductors had gone on leave, due to which 20-25 percent of the services were disrupted on Wednesday morning. However, it was also assured that by 12 noon all services would be operational as before.
