Pakistan’s spectacular win over England, defeated them badly in the second test, captured the series

Spinners Noman Ali and Sajid Khan wrapped up England’s second innings within three days on Saturday (26 October) to win the series 2-1 with a nine-wicket win in the third and final Test. 38-year-old left-arm spinner Ali and 31-year-old off-spinner Khan together took 20 wickets in the second Test last week and leveled the three-match series 1-1. On Saturday, both of them did wonders again. Both of them together took 19 wickets and England’s second innings collapsed for 112 runs on the third day.

This was England’s lowest innings score in Pakistan. Earlier in 1987, England’s team was bundled out for 130 runs in Lahore. Pakistan had gained a lead of 77 runs on the basis of the first innings, it got a target of 36 runs to win, which it achieved by scoring 37 runs for one wicket before lunch. In this way, Pakistan won its first home series after 2021. Pakistan defeated South Africa 2-0 in 2021.

Captain Shan Masood (23 not out) ensured victory by hitting a six at long off on Shoaib Bashir. Earlier, Masood hit four consecutive fours on Jack Leach. Leach took Pakistan’s only wicket in the form of Saim Ayub. With this victory, the home team avenged the 0-3 defeat suffered by England, which toured under the leadership of Ben Stokes, two years ago. England’s team was defeated by both the spinners of Pakistan for the second time. Ali took three wickets in the first innings and six wickets for 42 runs in the second innings. At the same time, Khan, who took six wickets in the first innings, took four wickets for 69 runs. England won the first Test by an innings and 47 runs, but after this Pakistan won the last two matches of the three-match series.

England started playing in the second innings at 24 runs for three wickets in the morning. Joe Root (33 runs) and Harry Brook (26) were at the crease, both ended Pakistan’s lead by adding 11 runs. But after this, England lost wickets continuously and its score became 75 runs for six wickets and the whole team collapsed for 112 runs. Masood was appointed Test captain last year and since then the team won the series for the first time. Under his captaincy, Australia defeated Pakistan 3-0 and Bangladesh 2-0. England declared the innings at a record score of 823 runs for seven wickets in the first Test against Pakistan, due to which Masood had to face another defeat.
