Uttar Pradesh: A young man killed a woman after failing to rape her, police arrested the accused within 24 hours
In Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh, a young man tried to rape a woman, when he failed in this, he killed the woman by hitting her with a sickle. After the incident, the accused absconded, but the police disclosed the case within 24 hours and arrested the accused. The police has also recovered the sickle used in the murder.
The incident took place in village Dariyapur of Simbhavali police station area of Hapur district, where the police received information about the body of a woman lying naked in a sugarcane field. On receiving the information, Simbhavali police station, Circle Officer Garhmukteshwar and Hapur Additional Superintendent of Police reached the spot.
What did the police say?
After seeing the woman’s body, there was a suspicion of murder after rape. The police sent the body for post-mortem and immediately started searching for the accused. According to Additional Superintendent of Police Vineet Bhatnagar, the brother-in-law of the deceased woman told that his sister-in-law had gone to the field to get fodder for the animals, but she did not return.

The post-mortem report made it clear that the woman was not raped. The police continued the search for the murder accused and arrested Sonu alias Nyadar from the same village.
This was revealed about the accused
During interrogation, the accused admitted that he killed the woman after failing to rape her. He committed the murder by attacking her with a sickle. Investigation revealed that the accused used to target lonely and widowed women.
The deceased woman was also a widow and her husband had died four years ago. The police suspected that no one in the village had raised voice against the accused’s criminal activities due to fear and public shame.
At present, the police have arrested the accused Sonu and sent him to jail. The police have also recovered the sickle used in the murder from the accused. The police have started further legal action against the accused.
