Uttarakhand: Prisoner Ramkumar who escaped from Haridwar district jail was arrested with a knife, search for the other continues
Finally, the police has caught an undertrial prisoner Ramkumar who had escaped from Haridwar District Jail. Jagadhari City Police Station has arrested the accused Ramkumar while he was roaming with a knife in Yamunanagar, Haryana. On receiving the information about the arrest of the prisoner, Sidkul Police has left for Jagadhari. On the other hand, Haridwar Police is still struggling to catch Pankaj, the shooter of Praveen Valmiki Gang, another convicted prisoner.
They had escaped on the night of 11 October
Let us tell you that these prisoners had escaped from jail on the eve of Dussehra. When Ramlila was being staged in Haridwar District Jail Campus. In which prisoners Pankaj son of Magan Lal (age 28 years) resident of Golbhatta, Roorkee and Ramkumar son of Raksharam Chauhan (age 24 years) resident of Ujjari Dhiba, Dhonipur, Gonda (UP) were playing the role of Vanar Sena, who escaped by climbing the wall after placing the stairs.
Both these accused had escaped by jumping over the rear wall of the high security barrack under construction in the jail campus by joining two ladders which were left carelessly at the construction site. This was discovered when the prisoners were shifted back to the barrack after the Ramlila performance. In such a situation, the news of the prisoners escaping created a stir from Haridwar to Dehradun.
Deputy Jailor Pyare Lal and 6 jail employees were suspended
When the negligence was found prima facie, 6 jail employees including Deputy Jailor Pyare Lal were suspended. Meanwhile, SIT was formed to search for the escaped prisoners. After this, the police took action and arrested three accused including the cousins and cousins of shooter Pankaj on charges of helping the escaped prisoners and sent them to jail.
Prisoner Ramkumar arrested with knife in Yamunanagar, Haryana
Meanwhile, police teams were engaged in the search for the escaped prisoners Ramkumar and Pankaj. In this connection, today i.e. on 25 October, Jagadhri City Police contacted Haridwar Police and informed them about the arrest of Ramkumar with a knife.
Prisoner Ramkumar will be brought to Haridwar on B warrant
On receiving the information, immediately a police team headed by SO Manohar Singh Bhandari left for Jagadhari City. Haridwar SP City Swatantra Kumar Singh said that prisoner Ramkumar will be brought to Haridwar on B warrant. Interrogation of Rajkumar may provide some information regarding the other prisoner Pankaj.
