Cyclone Dana and floods cause devastation in 14 districts of Odisha, people left homeless
Cyclone Dana and the subsequent floods in Odisha have caused devastation in 14 districts of the state. A total of 35.95 lakh people have been affected. State Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari gave this information to a media report on Sunday.
The minister said that 8,10,896 people have been evacuated safely and taken to 6,210 cyclone relief centers. The minister informed that the most affected centers include Kendrapada, Balasore and Bhadrak. But no human life has been lost so far.
Plastic sheets being provided to damaged houses
Plastic sheets are being provided to people whose houses have been damaged due to cyclone and floods. According to initial reports, 5,840 houses have been completely or partially damaged due to cyclone and floods.
Devastation in 1,671 Gram Panchayats and 108 blocks
Minister Suresh Pujari told in the report that whenever any disaster strikes in the state, people lose their houses and they get compensation. This time we are trying to bring a permanent solution and are planning to provide permanent houses. The state government is planning to survey the kutcha houses which are located in cyclone and flood-prone areas, so that the damage caused by such disasters can be reduced in future. Cyclone Dana hit the coast of Odisha on Friday morning, causing devastation in 1,671 gram panchayats and 108 blocks of the state.
