‘…then the free electricity scheme will be stopped’, Arvind Kejriwal’s claim creates uproar in Delhi, big promise on water bill

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that the AAP government served the people of Delhi honestly for 10 years and did many things that no other government in the country has done. The former Delhi Chief Minister also appealed to the people not to vote for the BJP. He claimed that if the BJP comes to power in Delhi, it will stop the AAP government’s schemes of free electricity, healthcare, education and bus travel for women. Kejriwal is participating in the padyatra campaign ahead of the assembly elections early next year.

Arvind Kejriwal said, ‘If you vote for the BJP, you will have to see whether to pay your bills or take care of your children.’ Hitting back at the AAP chief, state BJP president Virendra Sachdeva claimed that Kejriwal knows that his party will lose the upcoming elections and hence he is creating an atmosphere of fear in the minds of the people about his government’s schemes. Kejriwal also alleged that if the BJP comes to power in Delhi, it will stop the city government’s schemes of free electricity, healthcare, education and bus travel for women.

‘…No state does this’

The former Delhi CM said, “Zero electricity bill is now a common thing for Delhiites, no other state can do this.” Kejriwal claimed that before the AAP came to power, electricity bills often reached Rs 10,000. Responding to the allegation, BJP leader Sachdeva said, “We have reiterated that power subsidy will not only continue, but its benefits will also reach the middle class consumers. We will also ensure clean water supply for all residents of Delhi.”

Kejriwal’s promise on water bill

Kejriwal promised to waive off the increased water bills and urged people to vote for AAP and help him become the chief minister again. He said, “Elections are due in February. After coming to power, I will get these increased water bills waived off in March.’ Let us tell you that the water bill in Delhi has increased. People from many areas of Delhi have made such complaints.
