1.25 lakh voters increased in Uttarakhand, number of voters reached 83.71 lakh

Special campaigns are being run by the Election Commission of India from time to time to correct the voter list. In this episode, the Uttarakhand Chief Electoral Officer Office has released the program of special brief revision on the basis of 1 January 2025. In this regard, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande gave information in a press conference at the Secretariat.

Number of voters in Uttarakhand reached 83,71,700

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande said that under the special brief revision program issued by the Election Commission of India, on the basis of the eligibility date of 1 January 2025, the number of voters in the state has become 83,71,700 under revision till 10 October 2024. Also, the names of 2 lakh 42 thousand 365 new voters have been added in the state. Whereas the names of 1,14,088 voters have been removed from the voter list. In such a situation, the number of voters in the voter list has increased by a total of 1 lakh 28 thousand 277.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande said that the electoral roll has been published across the state under the revision program by the Chief Electoral Officer’s office. In such a situation, voters can register claims and objections related to the list till November 28, 2024. The claims and objections will be disposed of by December 24, 2024, while the final publication of the list will be done on January 6, 2025.

According to the information received from the district level, the highest number of 51,694 voters have been newly registered in Dehradun. At the same time, 46,648 new voters have been added in Udham Singh Nagar and 38,435 in Haridwar. Whereas, the least number of 4,445 new voters have been added to the list in Rudraprayag district. At the same time, 5306 new voters have been included in Champawat district and 5,342 new voters in Bageshwar district. Whereas, names of 17086 people have been deleted from the voter list from Haridwar district. 14,130 names from Pauri district and 12,261 names from Nainital district have been deleted from the voter list.

The Additional Chief Election Officer said that till now there were a total of 11,729 polling stations across the state, but due to the number of voters being more than 1500 at 5 polling stations, 5 new polling stations have been created in the state. He said that one polling station has been created by accommodating two polling stations, due to which the number of polling stations in the state has now become 11733.

Programs fixed for voter revision

  • The draft of the voter list will be released on October 29.
  • Claims and objections can be registered from October 29 to November 28.
  • Special campaigns will be run on November 09,10,23 and 24 to correct the voter list.
  • Claims and registered objections will be resolved only by December 24.
  • The final electoral roll will be released on 6 January 2025.
