Nepal staked claim on those three areas of Uttarakhand? Those places are shown in Nepali notes being printed in China
Although the friendly relations between India and Nepal are centuries old, but in the recent times, a lot of change has been seen in the attitude of the Himalayan country. Recently, Nepal has again staked claim on those places in Uttarakhand which have been in Indian territory for a long time. In this, Nepal is calling three strategically important areas Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani as its part. Actually, Nepal has chosen a Chinese company to print new Rs 100 notes with its revised map. In the map in this note, Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani have been described as part of Nepal.
Let us tell you that the new map of Nepal was approved two years ago by amending the Nepali Constitution. In this, Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura have been described as part of Nepal. However, India had objected to this claim of Nepal and has been expressing it. India’s stand is clear that Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura located on the India-Nepal border are an integral part of India.
Where are Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura
Kalapani falls in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. However, Nepal has been claiming it since 1997. Nepal says that this place is a part of its Dharchula. Dharchula falls in Nepal. Let us tell you that the Kalapani valley, on top of which is the Lipulekh Pass, is the way to Kailash-Mansarovar. It is also the traditional trade route of Tibet for India and Nepal. Actually the Kali River forms the border between India and Nepal in this area.
However, India says that the river water is not included in the border. The Nepalese claim that the Kali River originates from below the Limpiyadhura range. Therefore this part is theirs. Let us tell you that the Lipulekh Pass has been used since ancient times by traders, monks and pilgrims traveling between India and Tibet. In 1962, it was closed by India and then opened later.
