Uttarakhand: Action after the bridge collapse incident in Roorkee, 3 investigation member committee formed, report to be submitted in 7 days

Yesterday, on the day of Diwali, an under-construction bridge suddenly collapsed in Roorkee. At the time when this incident happened, there was movement of people on the spot. After the collapse of the bridge, there was an atmosphere of chaos on the spot. This bridge was being built by the Public Works Department. After the collapse of the bridge, now the government has taken cognizance of this matter. The government has constituted a committee to investigate the incident of the bridge collapse.
This bridge was very important for the city of Roorkee. This bridge was being built to provide convenience to the local residents and Kanwariyas during the Kavad Yatra. After the announcement of the Chief Minister, the construction of the iron bridge was to be completed by February 2025, but after the sudden collapse of the bridge, its work will not be completed now. Along with this, questions are also being raised on the functioning of the construction agency. In the year 2012, a similar bridge collapsed in Roorkee even before its completion. In which four laborers were also swept away in the river Ganga.
Now in this case, the officials are saying that the reason for the collapse of this bridge is not negligence but the sudden high flow of water released into the Ganga. However, an alert is sent to all the cities before releasing water into the Ganga. Anyway, the Secretary of the Public Works Department, Pankaj Pandey, has formed a committee regarding this entire matter. This committee will investigate the entire matter. Chief Engineer Public Works Department Dehradun has been made the chairman of the committee. Two other officials from Gopeshwar and Dehradun have been made its members. This three-member team will submit the report of the bridge collapse to the government within 7 days.
