Uttarakhand: Tension increased again in Uttarkashi over the mosque dispute, local people sat on symbolic dharna

The Maha Panchayat to be held on Monday regarding the mosque dispute in Uttarkashi may have been postponed after the administration’s assurance. But some local people have sat on a dharna. People demand that those who have been arrested on the charge of disturbing peace should be released soon.

The police had assured that verification of people coming from outside including encroachment will be started. After which the Hindu organization had announced the postponement of the Maha Panchayat.

On Monday morning, people associated with the Hindu organization sat on a symbolic dharna at Hanuman Chowk. The people sitting on the dharna demand that the three youths arrested by the police on the charge of disturbing peace should be released soon. Along with this, strict action should be taken against the police officers who ordered lathi charge and lathicharged the people involved in the public anger rally.
