Uttarakhand: The 4-day long Chhath Puja began with Nahai-Khai, Bihari Mahasabha cleaned the ghats, devotees started a 36-hour Nirjala fast
The four-day long Chhath festival has begun today with Nahai-Khai. The committee has completed all the preparations, from cleaning of the Ghats to other preparations. Special arrangements have been made in view of the large crowd on the Ghats. Chhath Puja will be performed at around 30 places in Doon. There is a lot of enthusiasm about the Chhath festival in the capital Doon. The Bihari Mahasabha has cleaned the Ghats of the city. Preparations have been completed at many places including Tapkeshwar, Maldevta, Premnagar, Chandrabani, Patelnagar, Harbhajwala, Gullarghati, Number Six Pulya, Kesarwala, Rispana Bridge, Raipur, Brahmawala in Doon.
Bihari Mahasabha President Lallan Singh said that on the morning of Nahai-Khai, the devotees wake up at dawn and after bathing in the Ganga, they start the fast with Surya Puja. Lallan Singh said that on the day of Nahai Khay, the devotees prepare pumpkin rice with gram dal and eat it. Along with this, the devotees start a 36-hour Nirjala fast. During this time, the devotees live a satvik life with rules. Bihari Mahasabha has demanded a holiday on the festival of Chhath from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
