30 thousand rupees fine will have to be paid for burning stubble, strict decision after strictness of Supreme Court
The Center has doubled the penalty for burning stubble. According to the new strict decision, farmers with less than two acres of land will have to pay a fine of Rs 5,000, farmers with 2 to 5 acres of land will have to pay Rs 10,00 and farmers with more than five acres of land will have to pay Rs 30,000 for burning stubble. Let us tell you that at the end of last month, the Supreme Court also reprimanded the state governments affected by stubble burning for low fines, after which the Center has increased the amount of fine.
These rules have been amended under the Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas Act, 2021. Citing the clause of sub-section of section 25 of the Act, the Central Government has amended these rules and passed the Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas (Imposition, Collection and Use of Environmental Compensation for Stubble Burning) Amendment Rules, 2024.
