Now judges in Supreme Court will not get these holidays, know here
CJI DY Chandrachud has taken a big decision before his retirement. Before his retirement, the Chief Justice of India has ended the summer vacation in the Supreme Court. He said that now there will be only court working days.
The rule will come into effect with immediate effect
This new rule will come into effect with immediate effect. In the judicial calendar for the year 2025, the summer break has been designated as a partial working day. According to the revised rules, partial working days will start from May 26, 2025 and full working days will start from July 14, 2025.
The Supreme Court will meet for these two sessions – the first session will begin with partial working days, which will end on the day just before the winter break. The second session will begin from the end of the winter break. Meanwhile, the duration of partial working days will be decided by the CJI, who will also appoint one or more judges to hear the cases during this period. These judges will consider all matters related to entrance, notice matters, regular matters or urgent matters.
CJI DY Chandrachud will retire on November 10
It is worth noting that CJI DY Chandrachud, who assumed office on November 9, 2022, will demit office on November 10. Justice Sanjiv Khanna, who is currently the most senior judge in the apex court, will be the next Chief Justice of India and will take over on November 11.
