Waiting for women policy in Uttarakhand increased, will not be implemented on state foundation day
The draft of the State Women’s Policy prepared by the Women Empowerment and Child Development Department and the State Women’s Commission is almost ready. In view of this, Women Empowerment Minister Rekha Arya had claimed that the Women’s Policy would be dedicated to the women of the state on the occasion of Uttarakhand State Foundation Day, but due to the cabinet not meeting this month, the cabinet could not approve the Women’s Policy Draft. Therefore, women will not be able to get the gift of Women’s Policy on the occasion of Uttarakhand State Foundation Day.
The Women Empowerment and Child Development Department has prepared a Women’s Policy to further empower the women of the state as well as to ensure their participation. In this Women’s Policy, many provisions have been made keeping in mind the challenges and problems from the birth of a daughter to the old age of the woman and her death. Special provisions have been made in the Women’s Policy for education, health, as well as other facilities available to women. Women of every class have been included in the Women’s Policy.
In fact, the last meeting regarding the State Women Policy 2024 draft was held on 29 October 2024 under the chairmanship of Women Empowerment Minister Rekha Arya. In the meeting, it was said that along with making some amendments in the draft of the women’s policy, it would be implemented on the occasion of State Foundation Day while being in the upcoming cabinet. Due to the lack of a cabinet meeting before the State Foundation Day, the women’s policy could not get approval from the cabinet. Due to which the State Women’s Policy to be dedicated to women on the State Foundation Day will be placed before the upcoming cabinet meeting. After which the State Women’s Policy will be implemented.
Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya said that her objective was that on the occasion of State Foundation Day on November 9, the women’s policy would be dedicated to the women of the state. The cabinet could not be held due to other reasons including the bus accident in Almora. It is a formality that the approval of the cabinet is required before implementing the policy, in such a situation, whenever the cabinet meeting will be held after the State Foundation Day. The proposal of the women’s policy will be placed in that meeting. After it is approved, the women policy will be dedicated to the women of the state.
