Air quality deteriorates in Pakistan, Multan and Lahore are most polluted, lockdown imposed
The situation regarding pollution in Punjab, Pakistan is getting worse. The air quality index in Multan city of Punjab has crossed the figure of 2000. Due to this, people are facing many health related problems. In view of the bad situation, the state government has closed parks and museums in all the major cities of Punjab.
Situation is bad in Multan and Lahore
Multan is the largest city in Punjab, Pakistan. On Friday morning, the AQI reached 2135 here. In Lahore too, the AQI has been recorded above 1000 at 12 midnight and it has again become the most polluted city in the world. Wearing masks has been made mandatory in Lahore.
Smart lockdown imposed in view of the situation
Smart lockdown has been imposed in view of the situation. Instructions have also been given to close the markets by 8 pm and the traffic police to take strict action against vehicles emitting smoke. Along with this, officers have been instructed to take action against those who burn stubble and crops in the field. However, people say that the rules are being violated everywhere because schools are closed due to the lockdown and children are playing in parks and schools.
